Can't open eumetset data from list of filenames

Currently, there is no way to pass a list of filenames to the level 1/2 readers in eumetset. One can only use the file_handling interface by passing a path to a parent directory of the desired files along with subfolder/filename templates. It would be handy if a user who already knows exactly which files they need could bypass this.
