There's already an ongoing discussion about replacing the build system in issue #133. Additionally, the author brought up his arguments in issue #1425 and later added it to #133.

Going to close this since we already have an open discussion, but feel free to contribute to it by reading through what's been said so far and adding your thoughts: #133.
