Would it be possible to drive tubes such as vga monitor tubes or hd crt 1080i tubes with this board, given that suitable parts are used?

I'd like to bump this comment.

I have free access to a Sony KV-32HS500, which is a 4:3 HD CRT. If this chassis could potentially drive that tube directly, it would be a huge win, but I hate to get it and just sit on it.imageimageimage

I can't make any guarantees right now. It will work on trinitrons with appropriate wiring. The main difficulty is the yoke inductance and deflection sensitivity, which you can't know without getting the tube. There are workarounds even if it isn't ideal.

Oh, by all means - not looking for any kind of guarantee, and this is all very much WIP.

My question was more one of "am I even barking up a feasible tree"?

It sounds as though "yes, it might be, but we have no certainty".

I will see if I can run down a service manual and figure out what tube is in play on this one in particular. Last I can do to put this to bed, but this does add a small amount of clarity.
