Cannot Use Specific Colors when mapping a variable to color

When using the updated interface, I cannot "use specific colors" when I am mapping a variable to a color. The button does not show any options. Example using Penguins package data:

If I only have one color (nothing is mapped to color), I can choose a custom color:

Once I map a variable to color, I can choose from a color palette:

But when I click "Use Specific Colors" the menu is blank, I cannot set custom colors.

I believe setting custom colors DID work prior to the May 2024 update? This would be a great feature to have back.
