should create a cache of thumbnails #5
Comments
I thought GTK handles the cache already. |
I started nitrogen and it took some time to load/create the thumbnails first time. Next time when i started nitrogen, it again showing the loading sort of icon for the pics towards the end of list. From this behaviour I suspect that it is not taking care of cache thing. May be it just nitrogen loading the cached thumbnails( I have lot of pics). I am not pretty sure. From: Cloudef <reply@reply.github.com> I thought GTK handles the cache already. Reply to this email directly or view it on GitHub: |
It uses the FDO spec for thumbnails, meaning if an application like Nautilus has created the thumbs already, Nitrogen will not remake them. I have noticed some slowdown when loading larger directories, but it is to do with loading many files, rather than creating them again. I will investigate a little more first. |
Closing this, because it does work for me. Re-open after 1.6 comes out and you notice it is not working. |
The nitrogen should create a cache of thumbnail images in ~/.nitrogen or ~/.config/nitorgen directory. This way the loading of images thumbnail will be fast. There should be an option to recreate the cache or purge it. For recreating the nitorgen can further save cpu time by using some technique like md5 or modified time. It will help for users who have thousands of images.
