No location update, warning message "MapViewModel: no location available"

Hi I am running Owntracks version 2.5.0 on a Fairphone 4, running Android version 13 (/e/ OS version 2.3), connecting to a Linux server running recorder version 0.9.8 (non docker, self compiled).

I have a problem with location updates - they do not not get applied.
In the app log file I find the warning

"MapViewModel: no location available"

I do not get any errors in the log. In the "Status" page at 18:30 o'clock I find the following

Well, I use both Wi-Fi and mobile (5G), and VPN (strongSwan).

I receive mails (same machine as the one running recorder) on a regular basis, so communication with the same server works without problems.

Mode is MQTT (server side mosquitto), I alternatively put the FQDN, the VPN address, and the IP address in the "Host" field.

Still there is no update of position.

Do you see an MQTT publish in the Mosquitto logs when you hit the up-arrow (top-right-most icon on map page) on Android app?

Is this related to #1759 ?

Those are to be expected: they're the keepalives from your connected OwnTracks Recorder.

Your phone seems to be connected to Mosquitto as well (client fp4) which is good.

A short update,
I disabled WLAN for the app plus checked the permissions of the app.
The problems disappeared, location update happens as expected.

It's unlikely this was due to WiFi being enabled; more likely the permission to use GPS

O. K. I granted permission to use VPN exclusively, since I enabled VPN "always on".
Don't you think there might be some issue with open WLAN the phone tries to connect to but does not have authorisation for?
Anyway, this way it seems to work, on a Fairphone 4, with latest version (2.5.0) of the app.
