Getting Started

Prerequisites

Ensure you have the following tools installed:

  • Node.js (v18.x.x or higher)
  • NPM or Yarn
  • Vite (comes with Vite+React setup)

Installation

  1. Clone the repository:

    git clone https://github.com/your-username/gemini-clone.git
    cd gemini-clone
  2. Install dependencies: Using NPM:

    npm install

    Or using Yarn:

    yarn install

Configuration

  1. Set up your Google API key:

    • Create a .env file in the root directory.
    • Add your Google API key:
      VITE_GOOGLE_API_KEY=your_google_api_key
  2. Configure any other necessary environment variables for your project.

Running the Application

  1. Start the development server:

    npm run dev

    Or using Yarn:

    yarn dev
  2. Open the app in your browser:

    http://localhost:3000
    

Usage

Once the application is up and running, you can explore AI-powered responses and interactions provided by the Gemini API. You can customize the AI interaction logic by modifying the API requests inside the relevant React components.

Deployment

Deploying on Render

  1. Create a render.yaml file in the root directory with the following configuration:

    services:
      - type: web
        name: gemini-clone
        env: node
        plan: free
        buildCommand: yarn build
        startCommand: yarn serve
  2. Push your code to your GitHub repository and link it with Render for automatic deployment.

  3. Make sure to add the Google API key as an environment variable in the Render dashboard.

Other Deployment Options

You can deploy the application to Netlify, Vercel, or other hosting platforms by simply building the project:

npm run build

And following the respective deployment documentation.
